Shooting professional headshot photos for a business profile

Some shoots are planned weeks in advance. Others happen because the timing lines up just right.
Zhengjie Lim - or Zee, as we came to call him - reached out to us one morning while traveling in Vietnam with his wife. The trip was primarily a family visit, as they were here to see his father-in-law who is currently working in Vietnam. During that short window, Zee also hoped to take care of something personal: getting a professional headshot done.
It just so happened that we already had another shoot scheduled that morning, with availability opening up in the afternoon. Without hesitation, we locked in the time - and just like that, Zee’s shoot was set for later that day.
Because he was traveling, Zee had only prepared one outfit: his scrubs. He also shared with us that the last time he had a professional photoshoot was for his wedding, and that he didn’t consider himself particularly photogenic. (A familiar sentence we hear more often than you might expect.)
Fortunately, our archive wardrobe at Very Dep Studio came to the rescue. After a bit of searching, we found a suit that fit him well, giving us a second look and allowing Zee to present a more polished, professional side on camera.
Throughout the shoot, with gentle guidance from our producer and photographer - small adjustments, clear direction, and a few easy laughs along the way - Zee gradually became more comfortable posing and interacting with the camera. The tension faded, expressions softened, and his confidence naturally came through.
By the end of the session, what started as a simple headshot request had turned into a set of portraits that felt composed, professional, and true to who he is.
We were genuinely happy to welcome Zee to the studio and capture him in the professional style he was looking for, especially during such a meaningful trip.
